Chef Albert Roux's New Establishment

A very notable French Restauranteur named Albert Roux, currently based in Britain, founded Le Gayroche along with his brother, the first restaurant in Britain to become Michelin starred. How important are the Roux brothers? In a recent poll they were named the most influential chefs in the nation. Luckily for those who canð€™t make it across the Atlantic for a decent meal, there is an American version of the same wonderful food. Guests at the luxury spa La Torretta del Lago of Houston can enjoy Albert Rouxð€™s cuisine at what could possibly be the most luxurious dining location in the city. Here is a summary taken from a favorable review posted on She Eats: Jenny and I stopped by the La Torretta Del Lago tent with Fayza, where the soon-to-be-opened resort was passing around bites from their signature restaurant, Chez Roux. The restaurant will be famed Chef Albert Rouxð€™s first American establishment, located improbably at a luxury resort on Lake Conroe. The multi-Michelin-starred chef has hired young chef Wyatt Maguire (and I do mean young) to head up the kitchen, which should be an interesting pairing. The bites that the La Torretta tent offered last night were irresistable: spicy tuna rolls, edamame soup with yuzu foam and chocolate truffles. Fayza was not a fan of the edamame soup, but Jenny and I gulped it down with relish. The earthy, vegetal, slightly salty, pureed edamame was perfectly paired with the fresh, tangy yuzu foam. The spicy tuna rolls were also executed flawlessly. If they do this well at mass producing soup and sushi for passing out to hundreds of passers-by at a festival, then I canð€™t wait to see what Wyatt Maguire does in the kitchen at Chez Roux. We will definitely be making a pilgrimage out there when it opens in January 2009. The restaurant specializes in classic French cuisine with a modernized twist provided by Rhode Island native Wyatt Maguire. Of course the old favorites of Chef Roux back in Britain will be on the menu, but the restaurant will also experiment with healthier dishes and using self-restraint in overly buttery entrees. The Houston-based La Torretta Del Lago Resort and Spa is the cityð€™s crown jewel in lakeside retreats. See the luxurious amenities and comforts that only a 4-star resort can offer. Dining at Chez Roux provides fine dining in Houston, and gives people that opportunity to choose from a sophisticated menu while overlooking the waterfront.
