Valentien Restaurant & Wine Bar

It was Valentienð€™s Bastille Day Celebration, which was celebrated like we were at Champs-Élysées. The restaurantð€™s décor was Red, White and Blue; the waiters were all well dressed in 50ð€™s-60ð€™s Mode Attire that included fishnet hose and hats for the women; and berets and the perfect mustache for the men, French movies with sub-titles were playing on the projector and the sounds of an Accordion livened the room. A few patrons were dressed for the occasion, including a little girl about 3,who was decked out in her after five attire, with dangling earrings and gloves to match. It was exciting to see her laugh and enjoy the music as much as we did. I was in awe of the atmosphere and kept thinking, all we need is a Gondola ride. We had the prix fixe 5 course meal, which was just enough to suit our taste buds. Since there were only two choices for each course we had the opportunity to sample the whole menu. We got lost in the courses because of the wine, and couldnð€™t figure out which one was the main course. The portions were small, but thatð€™s the only way to finish a 5-course meal. And we enjoyed being able to try everything. We loved the mussels, mushroom & spinach crepe, Cassoulet, and the tuna and anchovy salad. It couldnð€™t be a Bastille Celebration without cheese. The cheese spread was to die for and the strawberries were divine. They also had a waiter race at 10:30 that we missed, but weð€™ll check it out next year; and Ið€™ll be in my fishnet, black panty hose. This was such a wonderful evening, the perfect date! Valentien is located in Bakersfield, CA at 3301 Truxtun Ave. #160. http://www.thescoopbakersfield.com

Healthiest Energy Drink
I like to think of myself as a pretty active person. I played college tennis at The University of Georgia and tried my talent at the professional level. I did okay but had trouble making ends meet. Anyways I like to stay in shape, but itò€™s tough after a long day at work or in the classroom to go and get a work out in. For me I normally need something that is going to give me energy to hit the gym or go for a run. I found at most convenient stores and grocery stores the only type of energy drinks that they sold were filled with sugar and caffeine. They werenò€™t something that would be good for my body to drink on a daily basis.

Original Cake Baking
We are all created with some gifts and talents. I have a passion for art and try to use the ones God gave me to glorify him. One of my gifts that I share with others is baking. A few years ago money was short and I felt very depressed that I could not give presents to all of my love ones. While planning the Christmas menu; the idea came to me. Bake enough cakes and create cake sample gifts. I baked fifteen cakes, cut slices of each flavor and mounted them all on decorative plates. Tossed decorative candies on top of the samplers. Covered with plastic wrap. Well, everyone was so pleased that I started doing that every Christmas and now they ask if I will be giving the cake sampler presents before Christmas even comes.
