Soups
BHad some good comments from a previous blog posting on April 20 for a good Gumbo recipe. So, I thought it would only be good to follow it up with another one of my favs.....this one is so incredible easy, all of you should try it. I will give credit to the original source for such an easy, savory soup -- but I believe I have made it better with my own twist on the classic.
There is nothing better than a pot of simmering soup making use of the hearty and imaginative root vegetables, dark, leafy greens, hard-shelled winter squashes, meats and grains to nourish the body and warm the soul. A few simple guidelines for preparing soups can help you use those wonderful winter selections to offer a maximum of nutrition and flavor with a minimum of effort.                                Â
Soup is a comfort food that can be found all over the world. Soup can cheer you up when you"re feeling under the weather, or help you fight the chill on a brisk day. Soup helps us to keep from overeating, but we are careful not to take too much soup. Soups are an excellent way to use leftover grains and beans. Soup is deliciously simple to prepare, quite a cheap meal idea, very nutritious and easy to digest. Soup makes a wonderful meal, and once you make a pot or two, you"ll discover it isn"t really that hard to make. Soups can serve as a main dish when they are hearty and filled with meats and vegetables. Soup can be transferred to a large bowl and kept covered in cling wrap in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or frozen for future use. Soup helps you include lots of vegetables in your family"s diet.
The cabbage diet ingredients are simple and inexpensive too. It"s really surprising that these common items when combined properly can result in losing ten pounds in a week. But it works and has for a long time. One of the reasons so many people follow this plan is there"s no starving. You get plenty to eat.
This is very close to the Corn Chowder served at a restaurant in the Smokie Mountains. Although I haven"t been there for years, I assume the restaurant is still there and if they are, surely they are still serving their famous chowder. A lady who worked there showed me how to make this so I am not sure if it is their exact recipe or something she helped me come up with based on her knowledge of the original. Whichever, it is a great chowder that you are sure to enjoy!

Remembering chicken stew that grandma used to make by spending hours boiling a chicken, making homemade dumplings, etc does not mean you have to give up the idea of a similar meal in a matter of minutes. Today we can"t always spend the time cooking like grandma did, but thankfully we have convenient foods that allow us to have similar meals. This recipe for Dumpling Topped Chicken Stew uses canned cream of chicken soup, refrigerated biscuits, frozen vegetables and a quick to cook boneless, skinless chicken breast.Ò It is much easier to prepare but you will be surprised how much this quick and easy chicken stew can satisfy.
Quick soup is perfect when you get home later than anticipated or even if you just donò€™t feel like cooking. While you can always toss a can of soup into a pot and heat it, thereò€™s nothing like homemade to warm the stomach and the soul. Youò€™ll enjoy sipping broth with your family a lot more if you made the whole thing and fortunately, it doesnò€™t have to take long.
